Evolve Goes Gold, So Developers Released First Cinematic Trailer

Left 4 Dead developer Turtle Rock Studios has announced that the anticipated monster-hunting game Evolve will now “go gold.”

In order to mark this milestone, Turtle Rock and 2K Games released the intro cinematic of the game, which is seen above. Turtle Rock has also announced their effort to raise money for video game-themed Child’s Play charity will now include the staff pledging to not shave their beards or cut their hair until Evolve passed certification.

The studio claimed they would donate $50 per inch of beard that had grown and then cut. Since the game has gone gold, Turtle Rock developers have shaved their faces totaling 227.5 inches of beard hair adding to a spectacular $11,375 donation.

2K Games matched Turtle Rock’s donation, bringing the total up to $22,750.

While cutting their beards, Turtle Rock develops who shaved their heads donated the trimmings to Locks of Love, a charity that funds hair to children who are suffering with conditions that cause them to lose their hair.

Evolve was originally going to be published by THQ, but since then the publisher had fell into bankruptcy. The game then shifted hands with 2K Games in January 2013 when they acquired the rights to the game for $10.9 million during THQ’s auction.
